Snow Biking

Lots of people give up biking in winter when it snows. In the parts of the world where it snows heavily and the ground is covered with a good quantity of the white layer, people use snow boots or a sled to commute.

Is it possible to ride a bike when it’s freezing, icy and slippery?

Why? Well, because the slopes tend to be less crowded and this a good situation especially for beginners. If you make your first steps in the sport, consider taking a lesson. It will keep you from hurting yourself on your first day.

Obviously children learn quicker new things but even if you’re grown-up, you can become a skier or snowboarder. You just need to be patient and probably some professional help. At least one lesson is highly recommended as without it you can get really frustrated and get some face-plants.

Skate Skiing

Are you wondering what that is? If you put together ice skating and cross-country skiing, you’ll get skate skiing.

At the beginning the workout is really hard but once you’ve got the rhythm down, you will move smoothly through the snow.

If you think cross-country skiing is too slow, have a go with skate skiing. You will you kick off diagonally and glide forward just like ice skating. Of course this activity requires more balance, coordination and strenght but if you are patient enough, with lots of practice you’ll learn the basics.

Christmas Skating Rink

It’s one of the biggest winter attractions in Covenrty this year. The skating rink, 20 metre x 30 metre, opens on Saturday.

The ice now is two inches tick but is expecting to be double that by the weekend.

The rink was already tried out by professionals who gave it a thumbs up.
