Surfing on Wood with Grain Surfboards

Northern White Cedar and Western Red Cedar is a combination used in Grain Surfboards - unique and attractive wooden surfboards. Those surfboards seem to be a great option not only for eco-conscious surfers.

Surfing Dogs Take To The Waves

Have you ever seen a surfing dog? North Beach in Del Mar was the place where crowds of spectators had a chance to watch surfers with their wagging friends.

Some dogs wore one- or two-piece bathing suits, Hawaiian leis and brightly colored lifejackets. Some even wore goggles! Bandid, a Boston terrier owned by Mark Shaffer, wore a bandana and a blue doggie wetsuit.

Recyclable Surfboards

Borja Ponte and Julen Rementería are two Basque students working on a project to develop recyclable material for the production of surfboards.

About 750,000 surf boards are beeing produced each year but only a small number of them is made of sustainable or bio-degradable materials. For this reason TXFOAM project is aiming to develop and produce new ecologic foam, no toxic and recyclable, for its use in surf industry.

Breaking waves in Scarborough

The top UK surf destinations are: Cornwall and Devon, and, to a lesser extend, Wales and Scotland. But also all those living in the north have plenty of great places nearer home where they can surf.

Scarborough, South Bay, Tynemouth, Saltburn and South Shields have plenty to offer. Surfers will find there a variety of challenging reef breaks and good waves. Whereas Staithesone, one of the well known reef breaks, should be attempted only by experienced surfers.

International Surfing Day

The whole world celebrates the International Surfing Day today, on June 21. The aim is to raise awarness of the state of our oceans and beaches and help protect and preserve these areas. And to give thanks to Mother Nature.

“This is our day to celebrate the spirit and joy of surfing,” says Surfrider Foundation Executive Director Jim Moriarty. “International Surfing Day is also an opportunity for us to give back to the oceans, waves and beaches that bring so much into our lives.”

The 21 June is going to be a big day for all surfers around the world. The International Surfing Day will be celebrated on that day.
The waveriders will have a chance to share and acknowledge their mutual love of surfing, beach and ocean environments.

The prestigious “Wetsuit Of The Year” 2006 has been awarded to the Xcel Wetsuits for their Infiniti Series wetsuits.

The award was announced by the Industry Manufacturer’s Association (SIMA) at the annual industry conference in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

This year award, according to SIMA, was given “to the wetsuit at retail in 2006 that featured the most exciting design, appeal, or innovation.”
