Snowboarding Event

Les Deux Alpes, France, is hosting a snowboarding event beginning in October. The annual Mondial du Snow will collect tourists from France, Denmark and Great Britain who visit regularly.

The event is a great opportunity to meet snowboarding fans and test new equipment. Another attraction is a party scene in Les Deux Alpes which usually attracts people from all over the world. Apart from that, the snowboarders will also have a big number of pubs and restaurants to visit as well as great ski runs.

Boardfest Triple Threat Competition

The Boardfest Triple Threat competition has been confirmed for September 1st-September 3rd and will be held at Huntingdon Beach Pier, California, America.

The competition is exclusively for women and consists of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding competitions. The skateboarding competition will be a modified half-pipe, snowboarding competition is next to the pier and is a custom built platform with freshly blown snow. The competition starts with surfing, then skateboarding and finally snowboarding and the winner of all three events will win the Boardfest Triple Threat trophy. Scores will be based on difficultly level, wow factor and originality of maneuvers.

Montana State Snowboarding Championships

This weekend sees that Montana State Snowboard Championships in America. It is the third year that this competition will be taking place at the Great Divide Ski Area.

On Saturday, competitors have to snowboard through an obstacle course and the fastest time down the course wins. Four competitors at a time race to the finish line so the races are always interesting. The end of the obstacle course involves flying across a pond with floating toys. Not all competitors make it to the end of the course due to the pond – it adds that element of surprise to the competition. The obstacle course races are taking place from 11am-2pm.

US Open Snowboarding Championships

This year sees the 25th annual US Open Snowboarding Competition. The competition starts this weekend and is being held at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, USA. The US Open is the world’s longest running snowboarding event and the winner of this year’s competition will walk away with £125,000. The US Open is part of the Burton’s Global Open Series and marks the end of the Open Series. The Open Series has already been to Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and Japan.

Bud Light Rumble Snowboarding Championship

Tomorrow is the start of the 9th Bud Light Rumble Championship at Stoneham Mountain Resort in Canada. The winner of the three events will win around £7,500.

All competitors will have to compete on a slopestyle course, a slalom race and a half-pipe event. The slalom event is similar to a cross country event where participants race against the clock through twists and turns. The slopestyle and half-pipe competitions require competitors to perform their best tricks whilst trying to incorporate height into their routines.

Live at the Lecht Snowboarding Competition

The first ever Live at the Lecht snowboarding and skiing competition is happening this weekend (Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February) at Tomintoul, Scotland. It is also the first UK snowboarding competition of the winter at a real UK ski resort.

The Live at the Lecht competition consists of three events over two days, Big Air and Slope Style on Saturday and on Sunday, the Scottish Freestyle Ski Mogul Championships. The Slope Style on Saturday will be held in the evening under floodlights making Live at Lecht the first ever floodlit competition at a UK ski resort.

Summer Snowboarding

You can say one thing for the Americans - they don’t let a little weather get in the way. In 85-degree heat yesterday they donned their snowboarding gear, got on helmets and gloves, and defied the summer. Luckily though, to save them looking subsequently quite stupid on a beach in full boarding gear, they were attending Boardfest’s Snowboard Rail Jam in Orange County.
Nearly 17 tonnes of man-made snow created the 75 foot long ramp, and the women involved competed for a thousand dollar cash prize.
