Brush-Surfing Facility In Devon And Cornwall

Extreme Sports Zone, based in Devon, a combination of surfing and snowboarding on dry land is about to be launched. The Brush Ramp© is about to be open on Tuesday 27th May in Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park and on 29th May at Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park.

There is the skateboarding ramp with soft moving brushes that move the riders upward. An edge of the rider’s board is put into the brushes.

Comparing snowboarding to skiing, which one is more popular? The former one! Apparently three times more people do skiing rather than snowboarding. Using a single board on the snow may mean lots of falls and crashes. Hurts! Even if you wear proper gear such as helmet, wrist guards, padded shorts, beginning may still be painful.

Skiing seems to be much easier with the two skis and the two poles. You’ve got then four edges to master.

January - The Best Month To Hit The Slopes

Why? Well, because the slopes tend to be less crowded and this a good situation especially for beginners. If you make your first steps in the sport, consider taking a lesson. It will keep you from hurting yourself on your first day.

Obviously children learn quicker new things but even if you’re grown-up, you can become a skier or snowboarder. You just need to be patient and probably some professional help. At least one lesson is highly recommended as without it you can get really frustrated and get some face-plants.

These facilities are designed for winter sports athletes and they give a different way of teaching snowboarders and skiers advanced tricks, breaking out of the traditional resort experience.

If you want to take part in the 4th Artec Snowboard Design Contest, hurry up as there isn’t much time left. The deadline has been set up for 7th January 2008.

All you need to do is to submit your personally designed top sheet layout. The winner will be awarded an Artec Snowboard carrying his/her very own winning top sheet design. Bu it’s not all as a full set of the latest Sony PSP gear is also waiting for the winner! The jury will consist of Artec team riders and designers.

Britain’s newest and longest indoor ski slope is the Chill Factore in Manchester.

It took four years to build it. The aim was to create a place similar to an Alpine resort… It’s covered in about 1,600 tons of man-made snow.

Girls-Only Snowboarding Event

Looks like a great opportunity for ladies - snowboarding fans. The event is taking place in Breckenridge Resort, Colorado on 8th December 2007.

It’s going to be a real women fabulousness on snow where the ladies will have a chance to learn to ride, rip with friends or shred solo. And all this in Breckenridge, one of the best snowboarding resorts in the world.

There will surely be a lot of fun, opportunity to meet like-minded ladies and show the men who can really throw down on snow…

Get Ready For Fun Weekend

The annual Whiteout Weekend is kicking off this Saturday, 29 September, at Midlothian Snowsports Centre. It’s a family friendly event for all skiing and snowboarding fans.

If you’re a complete beginner, you’ll have a chance to try those snow activities for free. There will also be an opportunity to try the latest craze of tubing: a ride down the nursery slopes in an inflatable rubber ring.
