Ski Maintenance & Care Tips

The most basic care for your skis is a good waxing. It’s time for waxing when the skis become slow and sticky on the mountain. Also if the base looks dry, rough or white near the edges. You can wax them on your own or you can have it done at a ski shop.

You also need to check the bindings to make sure they release properly. If you run your finger nail over a properly sharpened edge, it should take off a shaving of your fingernail.

Skiing In The City Centre?

The ski season in Geneva will start with a 200-meter slope along the Promenade de la Treille in the Old Town to the Place Neuve. How is it possible if there wasn’t any snow for the last three years? 80 cubic meters of snow will be shipped from a skating rink in trucks fueled with bio-diesel.

Manuel Tornare, administrative councilor in charge of sports, is the person who initiated the project. The aim is to animate the city with more sporting and recreational activities.

End Of Ski Season

Did you know that this Sunday the ski season is ending in… Australia? Snow is predicted for this weekend and record visitor numbers are taking advance bookings for next year!

Jessica Rose from the Mount Hotham Resort says it’s been one of the best season ever because of the record snow fall. Which is very unusual, skiers started the first day on a natural snow. Jessica adds, they haven’t done it since year 2000!

Get Ready For Fun Weekend

The annual Whiteout Weekend is kicking off this Saturday, 29 September, at Midlothian Snowsports Centre. It’s a family friendly event for all skiing and snowboarding fans.

If you’re a complete beginner, you’ll have a chance to try those snow activities for free. There will also be an opportunity to try the latest craze of tubing: a ride down the nursery slopes in an inflatable rubber ring.
