Wii Fit To Fight Obesity?

Obesity is a huge problem in recent years. Not only adults suffer from it but also more and more children and teenagers are obese. Nintendo has created an exercising video game that combines both: playing games and physical activity.

The product has four fitness activities:
1. Aerobic Exercise - a 10-minutes exercise that makes your heart pump quickly.
2. Muscle Conditioning - exercises for arms, legs and other parts of the body.
3. Yoga Poses - that focus on balance and stretches.
4. Balance Games - such as ski jumping or heading soccer balls for the overall body balance.

When it comes to sport equipment, there is always something new that comes. And it is not different for winter sports.

Because snowboard gets on popularity, ski designers have showed us Freeskis. They are shorter, have rounded front and rear tips so now it is possible to do the same tips and jumps as snowboarders.

What’s more, new boots attachments have been invented. Because ski boots are quite stiff, it’s now easier to walk with the new “kind of moon shape and […] rubber soles that gives a better grip”.

Recyclable Surfboards

Borja Ponte and Julen Rementería are two Basque students working on a project to develop recyclable material for the production of surfboards.

About 750,000 surf boards are beeing produced each year but only a small number of them is made of sustainable or bio-degradable materials. For this reason TXFOAM project is aiming to develop and produce new ecologic foam, no toxic and recyclable, for its use in surf industry.

The ECO is the first environmentally friendly wetsuit. It is produced by Body Glove and is made from Bio Stretch rubber and Eco Flex exterior. Both materials are 100% environmentally friendly and non-petroleum based. The combination of those two materials is the purest form of non-toxic stretch material on the planet. The production of these materials only consumes 1/10th the amount of the energy normally used in manufacturing standard petroleum wetsuits.
