The School teaches also Eskimo rolls which allow kayakers to use their paddle and body language to flip an overturned boat upright without leaving the cockpit.

Winter Kayaking

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Kayaking in the warm and comfortable pool water? Why not? It seems a great idea, especially for the kids. They’re in safe environment and hypothermia isn’t a problem. Waiting then for the spring isn’t that bad.

The beginning of the lesson, about an hour, should be a drill. Then it’s time to play “sink-em”. It’s a funny activity where kids pull each other’s spray skirts and fill their boats with water. The winner is the last one to stay in the boat.
