If you’re an adenture lover, you might want to try kitesurfing. This is flying over water and you are the only person to control the situation.
When Natasha Fernandopulle was about to try kitesurfing for the first time, she expected something like surfing with the help of a kite. And indeed, this is what it was all about.
For kitesurfing or kiteboarding you need a small surfboard or kiteboard. The wind pulls you through the water. The sport is growing rapidly. Sri Lanka is a place when it can be done all year round. Kitesurfing specialists warn however, the sport can be dangerous if you don’t know how to handle your equipment properly. Mischi Walter, a kitesurfing instructor, advices to concentrate on what you are doing.
“You need to get over a certain fear point – doing so gives you an adrenaline rush. Even children can learn the sport, overseas there are people who are over 70 who are kitesurfing!” he said.
Another kitesurfing lover, Julian Bolling, says people shouldn’t be discouraged if it takes them a long time to get up on the board as it’s worth the effort and the wait. What’s amazing about kitesurfing, it’s that the only sound you here is you. the wind and the board.
