Love For Extreme Sports

What makes some people risk their health (and sometimes even lives!) in the search of joy and excitement?

When Philip Harper, 33, was only three, he used to slide down the stairs on his gran’s tea tray. He still loves extreme sports but what he does now differs a little bit from his first attempts.

Philip teaches snowboarding, wall climbing, skiing as well as other less known extreme activities. One day he started thinking about the reasons of his passion but he can only admit he doesn’t know why he likes that. Maybe because as a young boy he was taken skiing and just loved doing “stupid things”.

His love for extreme is so deep, he is even prepared to suffer from injuries. He’s had broken fingers, collarbone, ribs, a compressed spine and concussion. His family is so used to his injuries that when he comes back home without them, they are pretty surprised. Philip highlights, however, the accidents happened he was pushing towards performing at a national level. “When you are right at the edge of what’s possible and really pushing yourself to the max, things can obviously go wrong,” he said.

As Philip became a father, he decided to cut back some of the most dangerous activities. He’s got plans for his 8-month-old Skye. As also his wife is an extreme sports fan, they both hope Skye will join them.
