Waterskiing Championships Winners

Toby Duggan, 12 and his sister Grace,9, won the British Waterskiing Championships last week after the final competition at Stone in Essex. Toby took part in the Under 15s group of age whereas his sister - in the Under 12s.

Proud stepfather, Steve Cox said, Grace is the youngest ever champion and the first girl to win.

Toby, who won last year Under 12s competition, was under a high pressure to do well also this year. His victory is even more impressive taking into consideration his young age.

Opening Of The New Skatepark

A new skateboard park has just been opened in Manchester. The Blackley Skatepark showed a display by the best British BMX riders and skateboarders, but the visitors could also try some adrenaline-full activities such as wall-climbing, a surfboard stimulator and bungee trampoline. There were also competitions where a BMX bike and a skateboard were possible to win.

UK’s Extreme Sports Festival

The extreme sports biggest festival will take place in Brixton next year. The event, which is expected to collect about 60.000 people, will be held from September 18 to 20. Brighton’s Palace Pier and Madeira Drive, where the festival is taking place, will be closed to trafic.

There will be sea, land and beach extreme activities.

Riding A Horse To Work

The employers of the school equipment Consortium in Trowbridge left their cars on Monday and used other means of transport to get to work. Some of them canoed, whereas the others rode a horse or a bike.

Julia Betteridge rode her horse Banjie, Darren Liffen cycled 37 miles and Barney Greig canoed along the Kennet and Avon Canal from his home in Bradford on Avon. As he said, it took him only 20 minutes. “I’m quite lucky because I live next to the canal and work is opposite Staverton Marina where I exit the canal.”

Snowboarding Event

Les Deux Alpes, France, is hosting a snowboarding event beginning in October. The annual Mondial du Snow will collect tourists from France, Denmark and Great Britain who visit regularly.

The event is a great opportunity to meet snowboarding fans and test new equipment. Another attraction is a party scene in Les Deux Alpes which usually attracts people from all over the world. Apart from that, the snowboarders will also have a big number of pubs and restaurants to visit as well as great ski runs.

Let’s Try Kayaking!

Kayaking is quite a popular water sport. For many people is a hobby or a holiday activity. It’s very popular especially in the northern part of the United States and the East Coast. Going really fast down the river and bouncing up against rocks is an amazing experience.

Kayaking started to be so popular after the appearance on ESPN for the competitive Kayaking championship. Another big kayaking event is the Kayak World Cup Final that is held in France.

Get Ready For The Winter

Even though it’s still calendar summer, all those who plan skiing holiday this winter may want to attend “skiing talks”. They will be held all over the UK in October and November.

The courses have been prepared by the Ski Club of Great Britain and aim to improve our knowledge about different aspects of skiing.

The first talk will take place in Manchester on October 28th in the Chill Factore Snow+Rock store. Fitness and the physiological aspects of skiing will be discused by Warren Smith.
