Safe Cycling Lessons
Youngsters in Coventry learned how to cycle safely on the road. As part a Telegraph summer campaign, Coventry City Council run silver bikeability course.
A quiet road was chosen for the training. At the beginning the 9 to 12 year-olds took slowly but then they felt more confident. The course lasted two days and started with bike control exercises in the playground to be able to ride confidently on the roads.
The children got bronze, silver or gold bikeability levels.
“My favourite bit so far has been trying stuff we’ve learned out on the road. It was a bit nerve wracking at first but it got better.” said Jordan Stokes, 9.
Tomorrow, on 6th August, and on Thursday, 7th August, the next silver course will take place Leigh Church of England Primary School in Plantshill Crescent, Tile Hill. Gold courses are taking place on Friday August 29 and Monday September 1. A bronze course is taking place on Tuesday, August 26 at Manor Park Primary School in Ulverscroft Road, Cheylesmore.
