Extreme Sports Extravaganza

July 4, 5 and 6 will the dates when lovers of wind and waves can come to Hunstanton. The British Kite Surfing Association is organizing a national kite surfing competition. The event will be a part of the extreme sports extravaganza Lifestyles 2008 and everyone is welcome.

Apart from kite surfing, there will be a possibility of seeing professional skate boarders and BMXers. West Norfolk Council is the event organizer. The idea is not only to see the professionals and get local people active.

Canoeing on Montgomery Canal

Canoeing at Montgomery Canal has been increased and now even six canoes at a time are able to paddle the distance of 10 miles between Berriew and Burgedin. This length has been chosen to promote safe canoeing on the Canal as well as create interesting activities for locals and visitors. Welshpool is a key visitor destination for its shops, restaurants and hotels but also for its leisure. Canoeing is a part of the British Waterways Powys Canal Tourism Project. It aims to promote the area and conserving the unique environment.

As it’s getting hotter and hotter, you might want to find good ways to stay active and cool in the same time. Don’t stay at home with the air on and watch TV all the time. It’s not a good way of spending hot and sunny days.

Racquetball is a very intense activity that involves quick run, diving on floor and other actions rather difficult to describe. Not much equipment is needed, only a small racquetball and two rackets. The game is played on a racquetball court which is 40 feet long, 20 feet wide and 20 feet high. To protect your eyes, goggles must be worn. Gloves are not required but many experienced players wear them.

Extreme Sports Festival In September

The Isle of Wight will be a place to be this September, especially for extreme sports fans. The Isle is hosting this year extreme sports White Air festival. The event is taking place between the 18th and 21st September. The spectators, apart from parachute display by the RAF Red Falcons , will also be able to see about 26 different extreme sports: water, air, urban and land activities. The festival will also have plenty of live music.

Extreme Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing and kiteboarding are apparently the quickest growing water sports in the world.

Kitesurfing is composed of: windsurfing, wakeboarding and power kite flying. It’s not sure whether the sport was invented in France or Hawaii. Kitesurfing in Hawaii developed very fast because of the fantastic weather conditions and good wind. Also in the UK the sport is very well known. The large L shaped kites can be seen along many British coastlines.

If conventional croquet is slightly boring for you, try its extreme version. You need to find an “extreme” location, for example a place full of bushes and other obstacles. Abby Boettger from D.C.’s Extreme Croquet club says: “All’s fair in war and croquet — wait, they’re the same thing”.

Join The Team, Play Water Polo

If you are a boy or a girl aged 11 and over and want to join a water polo team at Melton Swimming Club, it’s the best time ever. The Malton Club is looking for the new players for their water polo section. The courses will take place at Waterfield Leisure Pools every alternate Sunday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
