Rock and wall climbing even though not being extreme popular in Europe, are well liked in Philippines. Especially amongst ladies, who are one of the best climbers in Asia.
Allen Enrique is a climbing instructor at Power Up Center Climbing Gym. She has won several awards in climbing competitions. “I love to travel and I love nature, and every time I’m out of town I try different rock climbing spots,” she said. So she often tries to find a new challenge for herself and try different routes and boulders.
Allen thinks women should be open, try something new and challenging, even if it’s said to be men’s stuff. She wants to show other ladies they can be successful and inspire them. Her famous expression is: “You go girl.”
Rock and wall climbing might seem to be difficult and technical but Allen says: “climbing is more of the balance of your mind with your body.” Obviously you need to be strong and have some talent but also be confident and self-disciplined.
