After what we have said in the previous blog, there are some more things to remember while riding a bike.

Another important thing is to set up correctly handlebars. At the beginning of your adventure with the bike the handlebars should be at a similar height to the saddle. It will give you a control over steering, braking and gear changing. Then, for more aerodynamic position, you can lower the bars.

“Try to have a variety of sessions in your weekly cycling schedule, so that you work on different aspects of fitness,” said Nicole Cooke. It seems to be a good idea to start your ride rather steadily, then for 5-10 minutes ride faster; you might also try some short sprints.

Specialists advise not to use too heavy gear. “Pushing a smaller gear more frequently allows you to spread the workload over a greater period - using less force to turn the pedals,” says Phil Cavell. He also says that cycling in an easier gear lets a better response to the obstacles and quicker tactics.

Quick tips to remember:

1. Remember also to look ahead at all times. Otherwise you will probably get neck and back pain.
2. Keep your shoulders and upper body still.
3. Your elbows should be bent to absorb shock and prevent veering if you hit a bump.
4. Forward-leaning position is good for your tummy while riding a bike.
5. If you want to be more aerodynamic, keep your back flat.
6. Your hands and thumbs should be closed around the handlebars. It will help not to lose control of the bike.
