Let Your Child Cycle

Most parents don’t let their children cycling on the road as they are afraid about their safety. Tony Doyle, of Cycling England, advices the parents to be realistic about their children’s ability. Mr Doyle thinks cycling can be fun and fear shouldn’t interfere it.

“Given a good understanding of road safety, there is no reason why parents should fear for their child’s safety in the saddle and allow children to enjoy the immense benefits and pleasure of cycling.” Tony Doyle said.

Keeping Fit

More and more people are obese these days. But very often they realize how dangerous it is for their health and try to change it. Especially schools pay more and more attention to their student’s lifestyle and get involved suggesting lots of activities.

“Ram Run” is a program a Paragould School District, US, hosted last Friday. The aim of the program is to get young people outside, get them involved in exercising and be aware that the healthy lifestyle is so important.

Brush-Surfing Facility In Devon And Cornwall

Extreme Sports Zone, based in Devon, a combination of surfing and snowboarding on dry land is about to be launched. The Brush Ramp© is about to be open on Tuesday 27th May in Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park and on 29th May at Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park.

There is the skateboarding ramp with soft moving brushes that move the riders upward. An edge of the rider’s board is put into the brushes.

Britain’s Cycling Race 2008

In this year race 96 cyclists will take part. Organizers have prepared a lot of challenges.

The route:

1. The TfL London Stage: The race will start in the heart of London. The spectators will have a chance to take part in the opening of the event in the beautiful surroundings.

2. The South East of England: The second stage of the race starts in Milton Keynes and leads to town of Newbury - one of the oldest in the region.

Streetball Event

It’s a very popular activity these days. Streetball can be described as urban form of basketball where rules are more flexible.

Streetball is described as “a hybrid of performance art and sport which focuses on one-on-one match-ups, with players expressing themselves through skill and ability in the court and using style and creativity to dominate their opponent”.

The famous Streetball Extreme (SBX) has invited young players from Burton to join the team after they showed off the talent in an event in their town.

Cycling Gloves

If you cycle a lot, protective gloves are a must. They should cool, comfty and give protection to ward off scratches. They should also mop up the sweat.

Before buying a pair of cycling gloves, have a look if they have layer of synthetic leather. It’s also important that your gloves have good protection of your little finger and the outside of your hand. Some protection gloves have a stretch cuff but no Velcro closure. You’ll need to decide if you want security of traditional closure or cuffless gloves.

Helping Obese Kids

Dudley borough has started a program helping obese children to loose weight and be fit. The program is a great success and all available places have been taken.

The MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it!) are run Dudley or Halesowen leisure centres. Families are being taught how to live healthier and avoid obesity. The program’s aim is to make eating habits better and make the whole families more active. That is why each child attending the course comes along with at least one parent.

Water Polo For The Kids

Aberdare Swimming Pool was host for the mini water polo festival. Children aged 12 and under took part.

Water polo consists of scoring goals by throwing the ball into the opposite net. Two groups take part, each of seven players.

The first place was won by the Neath Port Talbot Pirates, the second one - by Bridgend Barracudas and the third one - by RCT Dragons and Active Swansea.
