The first week of May (3-11th) marks The First National Windsurfing Week in the UK. The events will take place across the country and all watersports fans are welcome.

The 5th May will be a Windsurfing Family Day. The event is free and has been organized by staff at watersports Topmark, in Barrow. It will be possible to buy or sell windsurfing items, take parts in the races and try stand-up paddle surfing. The new activity is about standing on a surf board with a single-bladed paddle.

“There is a big interest in windsurfing in this area and hopefully there will be a good turn out on Bank Holiday Monday,” Said Bill Nickson, from Topmark. “It’s a chance for people who go windsurfing regularly, those who haven’t been windsurfing in years and those who have never tried it to get together and take part in the day”.

Water events will start at 10.00 am. There will be a slalom, freestyle, races and sit-on-top kayaks to have a go. People are invited to bring some food as there will be a barbecue.
