There’s at leats one more less conventionnal winter activity to have a go - Ice Hiking. What you need is ice, a steep canyon and cold temperature. Try just stand on your feet! You’ll see how challenging it is! But you’ll also need to attach special ice cleats to your boots.

Johnston Canyon, outside of Banff is one of the most famous places to try ice-hiking. Have a careful look before booking your holiday. Some winter resorts will pick you uop from the hotel, take you to theh canyon and lend you ice cleats as well as some advice. Remember to get dressed in really warm clothes as it tends to be pretty freezing in the canyon. You’ll be also taken through a thick forest of Lodge Pole pines before reaching your destination. If it’s possible, avoid Saturdays as this is when tour buses come (unless you want to have a go in a crowdy canyon). Better choose a Monday or Tuesday.
