Would You Like To Have A Go?

Have you tried lots of different activities but you find them boring? These are some lesser known sports you may want to have a go…

1. Rock, paper, scissors - to play this game you don’t need to be fit. It is rather compared to the game of poker where you need to “read” the other players and anticipate their next moves. The activity is pretty energetic and injuries may happen.

2. Extreme ironing - is “the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt.” as the website extremeironing.com calls it. What you need to do is to take your ironing to the extreme places such as: trees, rocks, crowded places, underwater… The only equipment needed is an iron, ironing board and some clothes. You need to master the “odd” environment, show creativity in your ironing skills and do it all in the shortest time.

3. Musical whistling - requires your lips and breathe. “Medleys combining more than one song will not be allowed. Time should be as brief as possible and not longer than six minutes for classical selections, or four minutes for popular selections, or five minutes for hand whistling” - these are rules for the International Whistlers Convention held in North Carolina. Performance, originality, and the quality of whistling are being judged.

4. Buzkashi is a rather horrific Asian sport that involves horses animal carcasses and whips. This is like polo but instead of a ball, the headless carcass of an animal is being used. The aim of the game is to grab it off the ground while riding and then get it away from the other players and pitch it across a goal line or into a vat. To give extra weight to the carcass, sometimes sand is packed inside. Personally, we don’t recommend this activity…
