Special Awards For Keeping Fit

Students at Alderman Jackson Special School have won top awards for being actively involved in sports.

The school in Gaywood gained the Activemark and Sportsmark in 2007 for great achievements in sport. The award recognised that over 90% of the students take part in at least two hours of high-quality PE lessons a week.

“Pupils can now display their new certificates signed by the Minister for Children and the Minister for Sport,” said Leonard Perrott, a PE co-ordinator.

The pupils like football, swimming, tennis, tenpin bowling, cricket… They do some of the activities during their PE lessons, whereas the others at the school’s youth club. The do gymnastics at Lynnsport and the Norfolk Youth Games at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.

“The children enjoy all sports, especially taking part together and supporting each other.” said Leonard Perrott.
