Skiing In The City Centre?

The ski season in Geneva will start with a 200-meter slope along the Promenade de la Treille in the Old Town to the Place Neuve. How is it possible if there wasn’t any snow for the last three years? 80 cubic meters of snow will be shipped from a skating rink in trucks fueled with bio-diesel.

Manuel Tornare, administrative councilor in charge of sports, is the person who initiated the project. The aim is to animate the city with more sporting and recreational activities.

The event will last from 5 to 9 December. To allow skiers to return to the top of the hill, all equipment will be supplied. The whole ski area will be illuminated and the city promised to lend out equipment without charge.

Sounds like a great idea so let’s book the tickets! Et bienvenue en France!
