Mountain Bike Stunts

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Riding a mountain bike is fun, especially if you can show your friends some impressive stunts. Practice them when no one can see you (in case something doesn’t go as planned) and when you’re ready - have a go with the audience.

Face Of Future Tennis

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

If you were a kid in the past and you wanted to learn how to play tennis, you had to learn it in the same way as adults. You had to use the full-sized adult racquet and had to play on a full-sized adult court. The worst of all, you had to stand in a long line with other kids while the coach would feed you balls as you did some kind of “drill.”

Skiing In The City Centre?

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

The ski season in Geneva will start with a 200-meter slope along the Promenade de la Treille in the Old Town to the Place Neuve. How is it possible if there wasn’t any snow for the last three years? 80 cubic meters of snow will be shipped from a skating rink in trucks fueled with bio-diesel.

Manuel Tornare, administrative councilor in charge of sports, is the person who initiated the project. The aim is to animate the city with more sporting and recreational activities.

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

If you’ve got a kid but he/she’s not really interested in playing football, baseball or riding a bike, maybe it’s time to show him/her more extreme possibilities.

Lauren Buress is just 9 and he is the youngest white-water kayaker to go over a 22-foot waterfall. Tyrone Gilks, who’s 12, broke a world record for the Evel Knievel-style motorcycle jumping when he landed a 169-foot jump on his motorcycle. Kalani David, 9, has been an extreme athlete since he started walking, now every day involves extreme sports.

Space Diving

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Captain Joe Kittinger, in 1960, jumped from an altitude of 20 miles, reaching a speed of around 700 miles per hour in his 13 minute descent to the ground. Now the skydives are being prepared to beat his record. The aim is to start with 22 miles then build up to 57 miles! If everything works as planned, paying customers might be able to start their fiery descent from space as early as 2009.
