Skates In-Line Marathons At The Young Age Of 63!

Bob Bidon isn’t an average 63-year-old. He took up inline skating a year ago and skates in marathons!

His love to the skates started when his daughter-in-low sent him an information about the St. Paul In-line Marathon. And as Bob has always been very active, he decided to have a go.

Bob will do four marathons this year. The first one was in April. He skated the Metrodome In-Line. Then it was a marathon in Spokane where he skated with his 43-year-old niece. She has never done a marathon before and her time was 2:27 whereas Bob’s was 2:15.
He explains that the course was hilly and curvy, and had a 12 mile hill. “Once we got to the top and looked down, we couldn’t see the bottom!” - Bob says.

His third marathon was the St. Paul In-Line in August - in the rain! He skated there to raise money for Special Olympics.

And the fourth marathon will take place this month in Duluth.

To get prepared Bob skates 13 miles on Mondays and Thursdays. His route gives him about 7 miles of hills, which, as he says, is a good training. And he has time to think, meditate and pray.
