Windsurfing For Beginners

You don’t need to have perfect balance or a natural affinity for sport. You don’t even need to look gorgeous in a wetsuit!
All you need is enthousiasm.
The very first thing to learn, and probably the most difficult, is to stand on your board in the shallow water. Then, you’ll learn how to get on the board in the deeper water. It seems to be much easier than step number one. But be prepared for doing a beached whale impression as you haul yourself up on the board.
Another step is to learn to hold onto the sail and adopt the correct posture. Once you’ve learned it, it’s relatively easy to let the wind carry you. Don’t be disapointed if the wind doesn’t blow in the direction you want to go. This is where learning to steer comes in.
It’s a really difficult thing to learn. Learning to lean into or out of the sail, and to maintain your posture while doing this, is challenging.
Turning, in which you have to walk around the sail while still moving, is also hard to get a grip on, but once you have mastered the baby steps required and done it properly once, it comes relatively easy the second time.
You won’t probably like the feeling of falling off. But you should get used to it, as it’s a part of learning. And it will determine you not to fall the next time.
