Bud Light Rumble Snowboarding Championship

Tomorrow is the start of the 9th Bud Light Rumble Championship at Stoneham Mountain Resort in Canada. The winner of the three events will win around £7,500.

All competitors will have to compete on a slopestyle course, a slalom race and a half-pipe event. The slalom event is similar to a cross country event where participants race against the clock through twists and turns. The slopestyle and half-pipe competitions require competitors to perform their best tricks whilst trying to incorporate height into their routines.

Bikeboards

A bikeboard is combination of skateboard and bike and are the latest trend to take over America. They are being sold in a variety of different sizes including adult, child and toddler’s size and cost around £60 and come in a variety of different colours and styles. The bikeboard has also won the American Industrial Designers 2006 award.

The designers describe the bikeboard as similar to a scooter but maneuverability is more like a surfboard, snowboard, skateboard and BMX bike.

South Island International Longboard Competition

The R & R Sport South Island International Longboard competition is being held on Friday 17th March to Sunday 19th March 2007 in Kaikoura, New Zealand.

Josh Constable who is the current ASP Longboard surfing champion has confirmed that he will be in the competition as well as competitors from Australia, Europe and America.

The competition is split into two main categories, the women’s competition and the men’s competition; other smaller categories include Under 18’s, Over 40’s and Over 50’s competitions.

Extreme Sports on iTunes

Good news for extreme sports fans, iTunes have announced that they will release Studio411 extreme sport content on the iTunes store. The content will be updated regularly with new shows and episodes which will cost around £1.

There will be four shows available
1) ‘Nitro Circus – The Series’ – This will follow Travis Pastrana who specialises in motocross and will feature him performing stunts

2) ‘411VM Skateboarding’ – This will be footage of some of the top skateboarders in action at competitions

Nissan Outdoor Games

Extreme Sports fans will be pleased to hear that it has just been announced that the Nissan Outdoor Games will be back again this year. The games will be held in Interlaken, Switzerland from the 28th June -1st July and will consist of competitions for kayaking, mountain biking, paragliding, base jumping and climbing.

Flowriding

Flowriding is the newest form of bodyboarding and amazingly enough, you are not bodyboarding in the sea. Flowriding is a combination of surfing, skateboarding and bodyboarding and the first ever Flowriding competition was held in Australia last week.

Flowriders have to perform a variety of tricks on a thin sheet of rushing water which flows over a stationary form. The form gradually goes downhill and the idea is that you prevent yourself from reaching the bottom of the hill.
