Montana State Snowboarding Championships
This weekend sees that Montana State Snowboard Championships in America. It is the third year that this competition will be taking place at the Great Divide Ski Area.
On Saturday, competitors have to snowboard through an obstacle course and the fastest time down the course wins. Four competitors at a time race to the finish line so the races are always interesting. The end of the obstacle course involves flying across a pond with floating toys. Not all competitors make it to the end of the course due to the pond – it adds that element of surprise to the competition. The obstacle course races are taking place from 11am-2pm.
On Sunday, there are more snowboarding races. Competitors go down the course as many times as they can in the time allowed. Whilst racing against the clock, they also have to perform tricks and aerial acrobatics. Both the number of runs and the types of tricks competitors complete are awarded different points and the most point’s wins.
