Starting Out Skating Series, Pt2

This part of the series is all about Braking. Yes, I imagine as a new skater you’ve learnt how important this is already. The chances are, you aren’t going as fast as you’d like because you’re not so confident about being able to stop if you need to. There are two ways you can slow down and stop when you first start out. In later parts of this series we’ll look into some slightly more advanced methods too.
The two ways we’re going to look at here are the heel-stop and the snowplough…

The extreme sports focus today is on a new Extreme Sports channel launched by Yamgo and specialist ROK tv. The channel will feature things like extreme helicopter-jump skiing, wipeouts, base jumping, mini films, and much more.

We sell a lot of roller skates to seasoned skaters, ‘aggressive’ and highly skilled skaters. However we also provide skates to plenty of people setting out on wheels for the first time, and recently we posted some hints in our Winter Newsletter on important things to concentrate on when you start skating. We’re putting those hints here too, and we’re going to continue this in the Blog as a series of hints and ideas, which will progress on to simple tricks and excercises for developing skill.

Extreme… booking in?

Okay so i guess booking in isn’t the only thing you do at a hotel. You could also use the climbing wall, hang from a chair, jump in the shark cage up to a higher level… getting the idea? Cape Town is now the proud owner of the worls first Extreme Hotel. The designers have created this hotel to cater to the Extreme Sports crowd, with funky designs and lighting to suit the culture as well as tons of sporting features and bizarre additions.
